State
Trooper Visits Jansen to Talk About Courage
On Friday, May 19, Trooper Matthew Swartz shared what is
means to be courageous both personally and professionally.
"When you face your fears and make the right choice you are
courageous," said Trooper Swartz. "Courage is in each of our
hearts."
The
students were amazed at his honesty and openness about an
injury, which caused him to lose one of his legs. State
Trooper Swartz received a "New York State Achievers' Award"
by Senator Hugh T. Farley. The Achievers' Award is given to
individuals who overcome significant personal physical
challenges and who exhibits courage and achievement despite
the challenge. We were honored to have such a positive role
model for the students to listen to at Jansen.
