At a meeting held on Monday, September 20, 2010, the Board
of Education unanimously approved the probationary
appointment of Daniel Carroll as an elementary principal,
to be assigned to Glebe Street School. Staff, students and
families are invited to meet Mr. Carroll and provide him
with a warm welcome at Glebe’s Open House on September 28.
District administrators will be overseeing Glebe’s daily
activities until he officially begins his new duties in
approximately 30 days.
Mr. Carroll holds New York
State certifications as a School Building Leader;
pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and grades 1-6 teacher; and
grades 7-12 Spanish teacher. For the past seven years, he
has taught K-8 Spanish at the Menands Union Free School,
where he also co-chairs the OLWEUS anti-bullying steering
committee; chairs the Arts in Education committee; serves
on the technology and safety committees; and serves as the
Chess Club advisor. While completing a year long
internship as a School Building Leader at Menands, Mr.
Carroll collaborated with the superintendent and teachers’
association to write a Mentoring Plan and New Teacher
Support Program. He also assisted with planning and
communication of a technology professional development
series and training of teachers in instructional
technology applications, in addition to undertaking a
plethora of administrative duties.
A
stakeholder committee, composed of school employees and
PTA members, met with several applicants for the Glebe
Street principal position before narrowing the field to
three choices for presentation to the Board of Education.
The three finalists were interviewed by the superintendent
and board members on September 20, at which time it was
agreed that Mr. Carroll would be a wonderful fit for the
Glebe Street community. We look forward to his arrival in
our district and wish him well as he assumes the reigns at
Glebe Street!
