Criteria
for Nominating Student of the Week / Good Citizen
The Student of the Week is a Jansen Avenue initiative to
encourage good citizenship. A student may be nominated
for one of the following “Character Education Traits.”
-
RESPECTFUL — to adults and peers
-
KINDNESS — helping others
-
POSITIVE ATTITUDE — in class
-
ACCEPTANCE — of all students
-
COOPERATIVE — with peers and teacher
The student will receive a special certificate,
coupon to the school store, have his/her name posted
in the glass showcase, posted in the monthly
newsletter, on this web site and in the
Leader Herald School Notebook.
Students of the Week for the 2007-2008 School Year:
“Darien works hard in OT class and is always
cooperative. He gets along well with the other students
in his group. He is anxious to offer help to both the
teacher and his fellow students,” stated Mrs. Noble
May 5, Abby Davis: “Abby is a really sweet girl who
always has a smile on her face. She is respectful to
all the adults in the cafeteria and also to her peers.
I always enjoy seeing her when I pick up her class for
lunch,” stated Mrs. Abraham.
April
28, Damian Sullivan: "Damian has shown maturity in all
aspects of school. He continues to do what is expected
of him. Damian is responsible for his schoolwork,
homework, and classroom chores. He is a good friend.
It is a pleasure to work and play with Damian!" stated
Mr. Neet.
April 14, Austin Reed: "Austin has shown to be a person
of character. Austin always tries to help others. He
is a very caring individual who cares about his friends,
other people, and staff. He is mindful of other
people's feelings. He is sensitive and compassionate to
individuals when they are hurt or distressed. He is a
loyal friend. He is a wonderful role model to other
students in physical education class!" stated Ms.
Muselbeck.
April 7, Andrew Rivera: “Andrew has been a great asset
to the concert band even though this is the first time
he has been able to play with a large group. He works
hard and his smiling face always brightens up my day!”
stated Ms. Healy.
March 31, Lindsey English: “Lindsey is very kind,
cooperative, and respectful of others. She always makes
a point of stopping in the office each morning to say
“good morning” and again at the end of the day to say
“good bye” to the office staff,” stated Mrs. Coons and
Mrs. Simek.
March 25, Justine Luck: Justine is
respectful to adults and other students at all times.
She is always smiling and friendly to all. Her bubbly
personality brightens up the day at Jansen Ave,” stated
Mr. Fleming.
March 17, Sara White: Sara is a very nice
young girl. She is always willing to help other people.
She really lights up the lunchroom with her smile every
day,” states Mrs. VanHusen.
March 10, Alexis Fisher: Alexis is always
polite and courteous. She is a very friendly girl who
loves to help out whenever she can. She is a great role
model for her classmates,” states Mrs. Pollak.
March 3: Liam Ackerbauer.
“Liam
is respectful of others and cooperative. He always has
a smile for me. He is trying really hard with his
‘letter forming’ in his workbook,” stated Mrs. Bray.
February 25: Josie Mowrey.
"Josie is always willing to help out anyone who needs
it. She always has a smile on her face and has an
excellent attitude towards learning. Josie is not
afraid to ask for help if she needs it, and she takes
pride in all her work. It is always neat and done very
carefully. Josie always tries her best in everything
she does," stated Mrs. Hastings.
February 11: Jessica Henley. “I am very happy to
nominate Jessica Henley for Student of the Week
representing our Computer Classroom. Jessica’s always
willing to help me get the computer lab ready for the
students each day. She often helps me login each
computer and makes sure the whiteboard is always clean
and ready to use. Jessica was responsible for
decorating our lab for Christmas and even brought in
some of her own decorations for our tree. I really
enjoy her enthusiasm and seeing her smiling face each
and every day . . . Thank you for helping to make our
computer lab a fun place to learn!” Stated Mrs. Braemer.
February 4: Marissa Brick. “Marissa is a wonderful student. She works
exceptionally hard and always has a ready smile. She is
kind and helpful toward others and is always eager to
lend a hand when needed,” states Mrs. Spencer.
January 28: Julia Wilson. "Julia consistently shows a
respectful, positive attitude. Her cooperative and
responsible nature can always be counted on in Art class
as well as during JACD," states Ms. Vazal.
January 21: Kayla Wesley. "I can always count on Kayla to be a model
student in Physical Education class. She is a great
listener, follows directions, and always tries her best.
She is a real pleasure to have in class and is a great
role model to her classmates,” stated Mr. Goebel
January
14: Erica Askew. “Erica Askew is a great overall
representative of the arts. She is a member of the
Jansen Avenue Chorus and band as well as the Fulton
County and Elementary Prism select choirs in both 5th
and 6th grade. Her many artistic contributions do not
end here though. Outside of school Erica has performed
in a variety of shows from the Glove Theatre and Family
Foothills, Proctor's Theatre Productions to dance
competitions around the area. It is a pleasure to
nominate her as my choice for student of the week,” said
Ms. Zullo
January 7: Korrin
DiMartino. “Korrin is always helpful and cooperative in
class. When it comes to class work, she does all of it
and is willing to help others when needed. She
contributes to class discussions with a smile and treats
everyone with kindness and respect,” states Ms. Daly.
December 17:
Nicole Fountain. “Nicole is respectful to everyone. She
is kind to others in her tone of voice and in her
actions. When the subject matter gets hard, Nicole keeps
an ‘I can do it attitude.’ She is accepting and
encouraging to everyone in her class. Nicole is always
cooperative too,” shared Mrs. Nolett.
December
10: “Ryan is a wonderful student who gives 100%
everyday. He is always the first one to lend a helping
hand to anyone who needs it. He always tries his best
and is polite and respectful. I truly enjoy having him
in class,” Mrs. Sitts shared.
December 3:
Abbie is a kindergarten student who shows wonderful
character traits. She is kind to all and is willing to
help other students at any time. Abbie listens to
directions and tries her best with all work in the
classroom. She never gives up. Abbie helps make our
classroom community a great place for learning and fun,”
enthused Mrs. Veit!
November 26:
Alex Theissen. “It's a pleasure for me to nominate Alex Theissen for Student of the Week from Grade 2-A. Alex is
a very sweet little girl. She is always good-natured,
polite, respectful and willing to work hard. When I need
help in the classroom, I can always count on Alex. She
is conscientious and dependable. Very often she helps me
collect homework papers in the morning and fill our
Yellow Communicators with important papers that need to
go home in the afternoon. Alex is making excellent
academic progress in second grade. I am so delighted to
have her in my class this year!” Mrs. Ackerbauer said.
November 19:
Maymie
Winright. “Maymie always gets along well with others,
and is very kind to her classmates. She always hands in
her homework on time, follows directions and
participates in class. “When it comes to effort, Maymie
always does her best and is a very hard worker. In
class, Maymie is a willing helper and always has a smile
to share," says Mrs. Frenyea.
November 13: The student of the week is Amanda Palmateer.
“Amanda is always respectful to fellow students and
adults. She is always showing acts of kindness by
sharing with others. She has a positive attitude towards
school and is always conscientious about doing her very
best. Amanda is well liked by everyone because she is a
cooperative, polite, kind and well-mannered young girl,”
said Mr. DiMarco.
November 5: The Student of the Week is Alexia Brunetto.
Alexia is a very polite fourth grader. She patiently
waits for others. When it comes to rules, she is
respectful of all them and never puts other students
down. In addition, Alexia goes out of her way to make
others feel welcome. As a student, she stays busy by
reading as much as she can. Mrs. Miller states, “Alexia
is a very mature fourth grader and a wonderful role
model to all the students.”
October 29:
James
Spagnuola. James is a very helpful and kind student.
Recently, there was a student having difficulty using
the new soap dispenser, and James offered to assist the
other student. “James is a great role model, shows
kindness to other students, and is helpful,” said Mr. \Westman.
October 22:
Julia Woodard.
Julia is an excellent student and a wonderful role model
in and out of the classroom. She works hard, treats
others with respect, and is extremely cooperative. “I
enjoy seeing Julia’s bright smile in my classroom each
day,” exclaims Ms. Eagan.
October 15: This week's student of the week is Megan
Brownell. "Megan is a hard worker who often is helpful
and kind. She is a fine role model for all the students
at Jansen Avenue," said Mrs. Kollar.
October 8: Our student of the week is Nate King. Nate is
always respectful to his peers and teachers. He follows
directions and completes assignments on time. According
to Mrs. Johnson, "Nate has a positive attitude and is
very cooperative."
October 1: Our first student of the
week is Austin Albanese. Ms. Jennifer Hickok stated that
Austin is a kind and respectful student. He is polite
to everyone and works well with his classmates. Austin
has a positive attitude towards school and is an
excellent role model for the students at Jansen.
